The New Patriotic Party�s 2008 flagbearer, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, has described the death of Mr. Dan Lartey, Founder and Leader of the Great Consolidated People�s Party (GCPP), as �a great loss to the nation.� �Differences in politics had nothing to do with personal relationship�he was a friend to everybody in the political arena and that alone shows that he was a great statesman,� the 2008 NPP Flagbearer said. Speaking to a cross section of the media, Nana Akuffo-Addo said the deceased will be forever remembered for the role he played in contemporary Ghanaian politics, especially his vision of Domestication. According to him, Mr. Dan Lartey was a man with a can do spirit and believed in the country�s independent and total freedom from foreigners. In a related development, a leading member of the NDC and Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Hon Baba Jamal, has described the late Dan Lartey as a man bubbling brimming with confidence and great belief. �The nation has lost a great son and a politician who domestication policy, I believe would have contributed greatly to the development of this country,� he said.
