Journalist urged to stay focused

Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, has tasked Journalists in the Region to stay focused and to contribute meaningfully to its development. He said, they have a unique role to play in their reportage on programmes and activities to make "the Region shine and to draw Government's attention towards its development". Mr Opoku-Manu was interacting with a cross-section of Senior Journalists in Kumasi on the New Year day. It formed part of an annual programme of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to afford the Minister the opportunity to interact with the media practitioners to know of their problems and how they fared in their reportage on the Region. He said the Ashanti with 37 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and 39 Constituencies held a critical position in the way the country moved in terms of administration. Mr Opoku-Manu said "they must highlight on unity of purpose, understanding of issues and love among the citizenry to facilitate the development of the Region," adding that the nation needed stability to develop. The Regional Minister expressed satisfaction with the work of Media Practitioners and said there was the need for them to do more this year by coordinating and cooperating with the RCC as has been the practice.
