Cured lepers show gratitude to God

Cured lepers at the Ho Leprosarium in the Volta Region, have expressed gratitude to God for providing their needs through people in society. They said though they were located outside town, God always touch the hearts of people in society to support them with material items, food and infrastructure. The inmates said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency when Mama Dezor I, Development Queen of Abutia Traditional Area, held a Christmas party for 120 of them at the weekend. Mama Dezor, known in private life as Mrs Dzifa Aku Attivor, is also the current Deputy Minister for Transport. Besides the party, she presented assorted items worth GH4,000 to the cured lepers. The items were 24 bags of rice, three bags of maize, three bags of beans, five cartons of soap, five crates of canned drinks, eight cartons of cooking oil, 10 litres of disinfectants, 150 plastic cups, 150 plastic plates and 300 pieces of toilet rolls. The inmates expressed joy for the items as they drunk, ate and danced. They said they have never felt like outcasts and that God always answered their prayers through people. They were thankful to Mama Dezor for the items and prayed that other people would also come to their aid during the year. Mama Dezor said she was happy for putting smile on the faces of the inmates and promised to pay them more visits. She said the initiative was a sign of government "I care for you policy" and hoped it would make an impact on their lives. Mama Dezor said it had always been her desire to assist the needy especially in times like Christmas. Mr Anthony Adjavon, Principal Technical Officer of the Leprosarium thanked the Deputy Minister and said the party and donations were timely.
