Ghana National Council of Chicago, organizers of “GhanaFest” in the United States, has supported the "Project 100 incubators" vision of Kokrokoo Charities Foundation to save preterm babies in this year's edition of the Festival.

The Ghana festival (GhanaFest) was organized by the Ghana National Council of Chicago in Illinois in Chicago, US, on Saturday, with several Ghanaians in the diaspora converging to display their rich culture.

This year's event was focused on raising funds for Kokrokoo Charities Foundation as part of efforts to help prevent neonatal deaths and keep preterm babies alive.

Representing the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation at the event to raise funds to ensure the installation of incubators needed in Neonatal Intensive Care Units in various hospitals across the country, was the Programmes Manager, Dennis Adutwum.

The Council raised funds a little above $11400 dollars towards the project during the festival.

Also during the function, Business mogul and politician Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom who serves as Chairman of Groupe Nduom, donated $10000 towards the purchase of an incubator.

Present at the event were the Ghana's Ambassador to US, who was represented by his wife, Mrs Adjei Bawuah, the Governor of Illinois, Bruce Rauner and other Ghanaian ethnic groups among other dignitaries.

Kokrokoo Charities is a foundation aimed at equipping neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) of health facilities with incubators.

"Project 100 incubators" was initiated in June 2014 by the Foundation and aimed at raising funds for the purchase of 100 incubators needed in Neonatal Intensive Care Units to be distributed to hospitals across the country.
