The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has called on the Independent Examination Committee and the General Legal Council, to thoroughly investigate the purported leakage of an examination question in connection with the 2018 entrance examination to the Ghana School of Law.
The GBA said it “would deem it very unfortunate and disturbing, if the allegations are proven.”
Some concerned LLB holders on Tuesday, 31 August 2018, submitted relevant evidence to the Chief Justice and Attorney General to prove their claim that there was miscarriage of justice in the recently organised entrance examination on Friday, 27 July 2018, for admission to the Ghana School of Law.
According to the concerned law students, the evidence they have gathered suggest that the compulsory question and the marking scheme were available largely on WhatsApp platforms prior to the examination.
Also, some students who sat the exam raised several complaints about the conduct of the invigilators. According to them, the invigilators did not properly instruct them on the use of appropriate answer booklets for the compulsory question as pertained in other centres.
The GBA in a statement urged the examination candidates to exercise restraint and pursue their ambitions.
“We would also urge the said candidates and Ghanaians generally to be guarded in their comments regarding statutory bodies and institutions and in this particular instance the General Legal Council. Statutory institutions play important roles in the growth of our country and should not be denigrated. The Ghana Bar Association as a stakeholder will keenly follow the investigations, and hereby wishes to emphasise that it would at all times be of assistance and avail itself in the pursuit and development of legal education in Ghana,” the statement said.
