Fugitive Killer In DCE Car

Noah Owusu, aka Kwabena Noah, a student of Zenith University College who was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in the killing of a 40-year old evangelist of the Deeper Life Christian Ministry at Sankore in the Asunafo District of the Brong Ahafo Region, yesterday arrived at the court-yard in the comfort of the official car of the District Chief Executive for the area, Fleance Danso. The sleek, white 4x4 Ford car, with registration number GW 6128 Y, arrived at the Sunyani Magistrate Court Two at about 12.40pm, with the accused person in the company of the DCE, a police CID officer, and a few people believed to be family relations and party activists. Disturbingly, after the court remanded the accused into police custody, he left the court premises at 1.20pm with the CID officer and the party activists in a grey unregistered Opel saloon car for an unknown destination. Meanwhile, the presiding judge has remanded the suspected killer into police custody to re-appear in court on January 11 to assist the police with their investigation. He said the court would look at counsels plea for bail in its adjourned sitting. The prosecutor stated that granting bail to the accused could be disastrous since he can jump bail considering how he played hid-and-seek with the police after the incident until he was arrested a few days ago. However, counsel argued that the accused person was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and that simply indicates that he was not the one who shot the deceased, hence it is unlawful for the police to continue to keep him in their custody. Counsel further explained that a few months after the incident occurred in July of last year, the police arrested the first accused person who was charged with murder. He continued that the prosecutor has already gathered all the necessary facts about the incident; hence, the police do not need any more time to conduct their investigations. It will be recalled that, the police declared some people in the area, including Kwasi Adu, Kwabena Noah, one Baba and others wanted after they went on a shooting spree at the forecourt of the Sankore Chief Palace on July 19, 2009. In the process, Kwame Nyame, an evangelist and sympathizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, was shot dead. The gangsters vanished after the incident. However, Kwasi Adu was arrested later in the year at the residence of Eric Owusu, a failed parliamentary candidate of the ruling NDC for the area and now Brong Ahafo Regional Deputy Minister. About eight of the wanted men resurfaced on the eve of the Christmas to celebrate with their friends and relations with the full assurance that they will be protected from any arrest by a high-profile government official. However, luck run out for Kwabena Noah who was arrested at 1.25 am on Sunday after a tip-off.
