Legendary actor Denzel Washington was recently asked what are the keys to a happy marriage and he answered: “I do what I’m told and I keep my mouth shut”. Recently, Washington and his wife Pauletta celebrated their 35th anniversary.

People reported the couple had a low-key celebration and dinner while interviewing the actor. During that same interview, he was asked for tips that make a successful marriage last. Washington answered, “What pops into my head: security, food, a beautiful home”, “The difference between a house and a home, it’s a big difference,” Washington continued. “You can buy a house, but that doesn’t make it a home – and not to say a man can’t make a home a home, but my wife has made our house a home, and raised these beautiful kids and protected them and sacrificed for them, she did the heavy lifting.”
