Joint China- Ghana Eye And Vision Center To Be Established At Tamale Teaching Hospital

A proposed joint China - Ghana Eye and Vision Center is to be established by the Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) in China with the Tamale Teaching Hospital to provide better eye care service to people especially those in the Northern region.

According to the proposal, under the first phase of the project, the Tamale Teaching Hospital will provide 2000 square meters of medical space ( land) to establish four major functional departments including a Primary Eye Care department, a Refractive Surgery department, a Cataract surgery department and a Complex Eye Disease department.

As part of the program the Tamale Teaching Hospital is to send a team of local medical service providers each year to Wenzhou for training programs and further education.

According to the proposal Wenzhou Medical University will make continuous efforts to raise funds from various sources in China to sponser the project .

Dr David Kolbilla CEO and Medical Director of the Tamale Teaching Hospital signed the Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) on behalf of the Tamale Teaching Hospital whilst Prof Qu Jia Dean of Wenzhou Medical University signed the MOU on behalf of the University in China.
