Churches, Mosque Sanctioned For Flouting Noise-making Ban

The Oguaa Traditional Council has summoned some individuals and organizations for flouting the noise-making ban in the area.

The Council has placed a ban on noise-making as part of the activities to commemorate this year's festival from August 7 to August 28, 2018.

Chairman for the 2018 Planning Committee Mr. Perry Mensah, revealed a number of individuals and organizations had been sanctioned for violating the laws.

"When I reported to the palace (Emintsimadze palace) this morning, the list was presented to me about some groups and individuals and even churches who were over the weekend caught violating the ban," he said.

"They include hutchland City-Abura, Be it Corner-Kakumdo, a fufu joint at Amamoma near UCC, another fufu chop bar at Ankaful village, Mama's Joint -Abura, Tinatarven. The rest are Calvary Methodist Church, Winners' Chapel, Assemblies of God-Abura, Full Grace Assemblies of God-Abura Eyifua, Church of Christ- Abura Eyifua, Baptist Church-(UCC Apewosika) and Ankaful Mosque”.

"So far, these are the lists of those cited for flouting the ban so the Council is preparing to serve them with summons," I the Chairman added.

Mr Mensah added that, those who would refuse to respond to the Council call would be arrayed before court.

Punishment stipulated by the Council for offenders of the directive include a fine of GHC 1000, a sheep and two bottles of schnapps while organizations will pay GHC 2500, a sheep and two bottles of schnapps.

He therefore advised the residents to respect the ban in order not to face sanctions.
