Farm Labourer Jailed 12 Months For Stealing Fowls

The Enchi District Magistrate Court has sentenced a farm labourer, Kofi Kumbro to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing fowls.

The Court convicted him on his own plea of guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.

Giving the facts of the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Anim Ofori, told the Court presided over by Mr Joseph Mensah that the complainant, Solomon Appiah, was a farmer and a resident of New Denkyira, a suburb of Enchi, while the convict lived at Techiman near Enchi.

He said on August 8, 2018, at about 12:25 am, the complainant noticed that his fowls were making some unusual noise.

ASP Anim Ofori said, when the complainant woke up, he realized that Kumbro had sneaked into his compound and was attempting to steal some of his fowls which were roosting on his unfenced porch.

The prosecution said the complainant shouted at the convict and intentionally threatened to shoot him if he tried to escape.

ASP Anim Ofori told the Court that this scared Kumbro and the complainant managed to arrest and sent him to the Enchi Police Station for investigation.
