NPP Has Krobos At Heart

The constituency organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Yilo Krobo in the Eastern Region, Eric Tetteh, has asked the people of Yilo Krobo, especially the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), to stop creating the impression that the NPP wants to move the Eastern University of Environment and Sustainable Development from Somanya to Bunso.

He said the NDC is doing vile propaganda and polluting the minds of Krobos that the NPP is anti-Krobo and is therefore moving the university from Somanya to Bunso which is creating unnecessary division and tension in the Kroboland. According to him, the NPP has the interest of Krobos at heart.

Mr Tetteh who issued a statement in reaction to a publication that the youth of Yilo Krobo were up in arms with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Yilo Krobo, Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor, for not fighting for the interest of Yilo Krobo, said the NPP has a huge development agenda for the people of Yilo Krobo

The statement said: “The recent demonstration by the Youth Association of Krobo was not against the MCE but was in response to a malicious propaganda that the main campus of the Eastern University was being relocated to Bunso by the NPP government and that the organisers were not happy that the MCE refuted the allegations on air and also made the demonstration unsuccessful”.

He said it is not true that the MCE had neglected the people of Yilo Krobo and pursuing his own interests as portrayed by the publication.

He indicated that since Mr Kupualor took over as the new MCE, he has not only improved security situation in the Yilo Krobo area but has also completed almost all abandoned projects by the previous NDC government including SIF projects, educational as well as health projects.

He disclosed that as regards electrification, all the 23 communities that were left out of the rural electrification project by the previous government are now being connected to the national grid.

“Looking at the huge debt that he inherited from the assembly during the NDC administration, the MCE has been able to undertake a number of projects including offering scholarships to 60 needy but brilliant students and also providing 750 streetlights to improve security in the municipality,” he said, adding that it is time Krobos eschewed tribalism and supported the NPP government under Nana Akufo-Addo which has a lot to offer the Kroboland because after all the votes of the NPP increased significantly in Kroboland in the 2016 general elections; the party won one of the Krobo seats.
