Driver Arrested For Transporting Tramadol

The Atebubu Police patrol team has arrested a Ssangyong mini-bus vehicle transporting 39 boxes of Tramadol on the Atebubu-Ejura highway in the Atebubu-Amanten Municipality of Brong-Ahafo Region. 

Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that the patrol team with four Police Officers on board a Police vehicle arrested the vehicle on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.

He said at about 0130 hours that day the Police on patrol duty at Jato Zongo, near Atebubu  intercepted the vehicle with registration number AS3338-18 driven by Isaiah Akanyi.

Upon a search, the Police found 39 boxes of Tramadol hydrochloride 225mg tablets concealed in the vehicle, Chief Inspector Oppong said, adding that the driver could not explain to the Police about its ownership and how he got them.

Consequently he was arrested and escorted to the Atebubu Police Station to be detained to assist in investigations, he said.
