Residents At Dome-Kwabenya Threaten To Vote Against Akufo-Addo In 2020

There was near chaos at Dome-Kwabenya as scores of protesters thronged the streets today to register their displeasure with their Member of Parliament (MP), Adwoa Safo and the ruling NPP government.

The protesters, clad in red and hoisting placards with various inscriptions "Fix Our Bad Roads", "Our Road Need To Be Good", "Car Maintanance Is Very Very High", "2020 ooooh" among others; threatened to vote out their MP and the Akufo-Addo government should they turn a blind eye on the poor nature of the roads.

The aggrieved residents blocked the roads, causing vehicular traffic and paraded the principal streets of the vicinity with motorists chanting and brandishing their placards to express their resentments over the seemingly unconcerned behaviour of Hon. Adwoa Safo regarding their plight.

The situation turned aggressive when the Kwabenya District Police Command arrived on the scene to prevent the protesters from continuing their action.

According to the District Police Commander, DSP James Asiedu, the demonstrators failed to give Police prior notice and also undergo the lawful procedures before hitting the streets.

In an attempt to ward off the demonstration, the Police arrested their convener, Anderson Adongo, but this further provoked the demonstrators who stormed the Police Headquarters at Kwabenya insisting on the release of their leader.

After several consultations and calm being restored, the Police later freed Adongo and asked the protesters to go through the due process to ensure their actions fall within the rigors of the law.

The group has vowed to advise themselves should their concerns to their MP fall on deaf ears.
