A 44-year-old woman, Auntie Ama, has allegedly poisoned her husband to death at Sefwi Benchemaa in the Western Region for purportedly refusing to take care of his family and neglecting other responsibilities, DAILY GUIDE has gathered.
According to some of the residents, the suspect was said to have poisoned her 50-year-old husband, Alfred Yankey, because he was not taking care of her and their four children.
The woman was alleged to have indicated that she carried out the alleged barbaric act because the husband was not providing the nuclear family money for their upkeep even though the deceased was working and earning some money.
The suspect indicated that although the husband was a farmer and a professional teacher at Sefwi Benchemaa Nkatieso D/A Primary School in the Sefwi-Wiawso Municipality and received a monthly allowance, he never provided for his family.
The frustrated woman was said to have poisoned the food she prepared for the husband, and gave it to him to eat after he had returned from work last Wednesday.
According to information gathered, the husband started complaining of stomach ache after consuming the food.
Some of the residents asserted that the deceased was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital and that doctors confirmed he was poisoned.
The body has been deposited at the Juaboso Hospital Morgue awaiting autopsy while the suspect has been arrested by the police.
