Lack of Transparency Cause of StarTimes Deal Mess – Bia East MP

NDC Member of Parliament [MP] for Bia East constituency in the Western Region, Richard Acheampong, has urged the Minister of Communications to ensure her ministry discloses every truth needed to be known in the StarTimes Satellite TV project contract.

According to him, there wouldn’t have been any copious confrontations on the said deal had the ministry been transparent from the beginning of the project.

“Indeed the ministry of communications I believe and know for fact that they are hiding the vivid aspect of the covenant from citizens, especially the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association [GIBA], therefore the protests against the deal,” he said.

Speaking on UTV’s panel discussion on the ‘Adekye Nsroma’ show, Richard Acheampong emphatically noted “I pray the communications ministry will be transparent to the stakeholders involved in the initiated meeting to be held on Thursday, September 28 . . .”

He advised Ministers in government to be watchful of the kind of contracts and agreements they engage in on behalf of the country bearing in mind former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s latest advice.

“ . .Yes, it is true that we need foreign interventions and investors to develop our country, as well must we be very conscious of the kind of contracts and agreements we engage in,” ex-president Kufuor has advised.
