NDC Postpones National Congress To November 17

The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has once again rescheduled its National Delegates Congress to 17th November, 2018, Peacefmonline.com understands.

Peacefmonline.com sources at the NDC Headquarters say the latest change in the congress date has become necessary due to the ongoing limited registration.

However, the venue for the congress which is the Trade Fair Center in the Greater Accra Region still remains unchanged.

The NDC national delegates congress to elect executive officers was originally fixed for October 20, but was postponed to Saturday, November 3, 2018, following what the hierarchy of the party said was due to challenges the organizers had with their venue of interest.

National Organizer of the opposition party, Mr. Kofi Adams, who confirmed the news in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah "Tikesie" on Okay fm "Ade Akye Abia" program, charged national executives of the party to not only take note of the changes to enable them continue with their election process, but to also participate in the ongoing limited registration exercise.

"We have presented the vetting report to the congress planning committe for various appeals to be looked into before we publish their notice of polls, but those who have qualified can start their campaign."

"The National Youth Organizer's elections will be held at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region," he added.

NDC elects regional executives

The NDC has already elected its regional executives nationwide.

Delegates from all 275 constituencies gathered at various designated centers to elect regional officers last month (August).

NDC to elect flagbearer on December 7, 2018

The NDC has slated December 7, 2018, for the election of its flagbearer for the 2020 presidential election.

General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said the date is in line with what their constitution proposes.

We have taken note of our constitutional requirement to choose our Flagbearer, 24 months before the next elections and the constitution not having been amended yet, we can safely calculate our timelines from 7th December 2020, so that will bring us back to 7th of December 2018 for a choice to be made on who leads our party into the next general elections.”
