Vice-President John Mahama says it is necessary to protect the legacies left by Ghana�s First President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah for future generations to benefit from them. He said if his legacies such as books, Monuments, Intellectual Works, Films, etc. are well documented and protected, it would offer the opportunity for further Research into Nkrumah and other Greater men lives. Vice-President John Mahama said these when Access Bank, (Ghana), presented 10,000 USA Dollars cheque to him at the Castle, Osu, towards the Kwame Nkrumah Centenary celebrations. The Vice-President immediately handed over the cheque to Professor Akilakpa Sawyerr, Chairman of Nkrumah�s Centenary Celebrations Planning Committee. Vice-President Mahama said as part of the celebrations, Padmore Library where research is done into Pan-Africanism will be rehabilitated. He said some of Nkrumah�s works, which are being protected in the UK, would be filmed and put on DVD for ownership and viewership of Ghanaians at Home and abroad. The Chairman of Planning Committee, Professor Akilakpa Sawyerr, on his part said there would be more activities on AU Day, and from February 28th to March 6, 2010 to honour Dr Nkrumah. The Head of Corporate Banking, Mr. Sebastian Asem, earlier said the Bank believes in the celebrations as it will unite and bring together Africans from all walks of life.
