Ayitey Powers Snubs Rematch With Banku, Wants To Fight Bastir, Gbese Bruno

Local boxer, Ayittey Powers, has ruled out the possibility of challenging compatriot, Brimah ‘Bukom Banku’ Kamoko again because he wants a fresh challenge.

Instead, the 38-year-old heavyweight fighter has turned his attention to Enoch Quaye Gbese Bruno and Bastir Samir as the next pugilists he is dreaming to challenge in his next fight.

"Now I want to fight the best, Bukom Banku has been defeated by Bastir Samir so he is the one I want to fight now and not Bukom Banku" he said after his exhibition bout with comedian, Baba Spirit at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday.

Powers exhibition bout was on the bill of the vacant WBO Africa lightweight title bout between Emmanuel Tagoe and Paulus Moses where his comedian opponent was disqualified in the first round after throwing his legs.

But before his bout with Samir, Ayittey Powers called on promoters to consider putting him and Gbese Bruno in the ring first because he wants to dethrone the boxer who currently holds the WBO Africa heavyweight title.

Immediately after his declaration, Bruno also entered the ring and dare him for a fight because he was very ready to slug it out with Powers although Powers flee when the opportunity came for them to fight in the Cruiserweight contest last March.

“When the opportunity came for us to fight, you run away pretending you are sick when we are know it was because you were afraid, but if you want to fight now I’m also ready and I will like to see this fight happen” Gbese Bruno responded.

Powers who has twice been defeated by Bukom Banku while Banku was outpunched by Bastir last year and this has encouraged Ayittey Powers to dare Bastir for a fight promising that as soon as he was done with Bruno he would turn his attention to do what many consider the unthinkable by dethroning Bastir.

“Bastir has beaten Bokum Banku so it is time for me to challenge him”, Powers said to the approval of the packed Arena.
