40 Cars Vandalised In KNUST Riot

Many people have started counting their losses after students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) went on rampage on Monday in Kumasi, destroying several properties on campus.

It’s estimated that about 40 vehicles, belonging to some top officials of the university, were destroyed by the irate students.

On Tuesday morning, people, who were adversely affected, were seen gnashing their teeth after assessing the extent of damage to their properties.

The properties of KNUST officials, especially lecturers, were mostly destroyed by the students.

During the violent protest, the students targeted vehicles of the university officials.

A visit to a car park by DAILY GUIDE, which is opposite the administration block of KNUST, revealed several damaged vehicles there.

Virtually, all the windscreens of vehicles at the park had been smashed by the students.

Surprisingly, some of the cars were turned upside down by the angry students who mainly focused on vehicles and other precious items during the riot.

Most of the dejected lecturers, who did not want their identities to be revealed, bemoaned the violent conduct of the students on campus.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that inventory has been taken by the university authorities, but it’s not known if the owners of the properties would be compensated.
