KNUST Demo: Vandalism Will Take Away Sympathy From You - Npp Fmr Nat. Youth Organizer Cautions Students

Former Deputy National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dominic Eduah has condemned the student brutality by  security officers of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

According to Mr. Eduah, the action of the school security was wrong but was also quick to condemn the destruction of property at the school by the students saying regardless their provocation, they shouldn’t have gone to the extent of vandalizing properties.

Commenting on Agoo TV, Mr. Eduah said “even though the student were right to agitate, they  shouldn’t have destroyed the school’s limited property and that is something that under no circumstance should be adhered to. It is unacceptable and I condemned in full totality”.

To him, resorting to vandalism will take away sympathy from the students and so cautioned them not to repeat their action in the offing.

“Destruction of properties takes away the sympathy from you. They would have had a stronger case if they demonstrated in a peaceful way. We understand their frustration but we cannot justify vandalism. Vandalism should not be tolerated. It cannot be justified by any stretch of imagination,” he stressed.

The students were protesting decisions of the University management and last Friday’s manhandling of some students who were holding a vigil in one of the University halls.

The Ashanti Regional Security Council has, as a result of the incident on campus on Monday, October 22, which saw the students destroy private and public properties, shut down the school indefinitely as government and stakeholders engage the University authorities  as well as the student body to find a lasting solution to the impasse.
