"Nigerians Have A Lot Of Criminal Deals" - Wakye

This dude landed himself on the comic grounds and he was shot into instant fame during the 90`s. His name alone was enough to catapult him to the top. In an interview with Prince Yawson who is popularly known as Wakye, he revealed to Flex newspaper that he is still in the movie industry directing movies and also producing his own movies, but he decided to go off the screen so that he could help teach the upcoming ones to be able to reach their peak. When this reporter asked him if his come back is going to be for the Twi or English movies, he said that he does not restrict him self to a particular type of movie but it is unfortunate that he is getting more Twi scripts than the English scripts. For me the type of movie I would love to go in for if I am producing my own movie is an English movie. Talking about how fans call him in town, he revealed that some people do that to express their likeness for him whiles others also do that just to make fun of him. He usually ignore those who call him to make fun of him. If I play a stupid role in a movie, that does not mean I am really stupid for you to tease me and be calling me wakye ke kenam or whatever. What I want Ghanaians to understand is that every showbiz person has what he or she is projecting so the fact that I have been playing more stupid roles in a movie does not mean I am stupid. I have my private life which is different from my acting life. Commenting about the indiscipline poll on Ghanaianmovie.com, he said that he is not indiscipline but he is a type who loves to work with time and always doesn't want to break agreement that he has made with others. Sometimes a movie producer will give you time to be on set and when you get there at the exact time, he will rather be late and when you decide to quit, the same producer will come out to describe you as indiscipline. I think its time our movie producers respect the time given to artistes. For him, he has had lots of invitations from some Nigerian film producers to feature in their movies but he ignored them because he doesn't believe in them. The Nigerians have a whole lot of criminal deals and when you work with such people, there is no way you are going to be comfortable. As a film producer, film actor and now a journalist who reports for some radio stations in Kumasi, he advised film producers to be able to invest in any movie that they produce. What worries him is that what ever made in Ghana becomes trash to Ghanaians so he would like to advice Ghanaians to always purchase made in Ghana movies.
