2018 GJA Awards: Akufo-Addo Congratulates Bernard Avle, Others

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Citi FM’s Bernard Avle and all other winners of the 23rd Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.

37-year old Bernard Koku Avle was adjudged the 2017 PAV Journalist of the Year. In all, 36 journalists were awarded out of 548 applications received by the GJA Awards Committee

Mr. Avle took over the title from host of the popular Akan morning show on Peace FM, Kokrokoo, Mr Kwame Sefa Kayi, who was adjudged the 2016 Best Journalist of the Year.

The president in a tweet a day after the awards ceremony commended the Citi Breakfast Show host for his good works over the years.

“Warm congratulations to Bernard Avle on being named 2017 Journalist of the Year. Thoroughly well deserved. Congratulations to all award winners,” the president tweeted.

On facebook he also wrote: “Warm congratulations to Bernard Avle on being named 2017 Journalist of the Year. Thoroughly well-deserved. Congratulations also to all award winners. I urge the media to remain active in tackling the social ills of our country, and advocating for investment that will contribute to Ghana’s development”, the post read.
