JJ@NDC Congress: Some NDC Members Are TreacherousDecries Poor Logistical Arrangements

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has expressed his outmost disgust at the rather appalling and deplorable conditions under which some NDC delegates lay their heads and has lashed out at those in charge of logistical arrangement regarding the organization of the Congress. I find it very ironical that some of us here are actually in charge of logistics supply like mattressesyet when senior colleagues die or their in-law die, lorry loads of mattresses, supplies of rice and what nots are dispatched to go and take care of those funerals. And when its even done, so much is left to be transported. Ladies and Gentlemen, there is something wrong, he cried out. Reports say Hotels and other hospitality centres in Tamale, the Northern regional capital, have all been booked, thereby forcing some NDC delegates to even spend the night on tables. About 3000 Delegates and invited guests who are relevant to the Congress are part of an estimated 20,000 crowd attending the 8th National Delegates Conference of the NDC, which started on Friday, January 15th and will end on Sunday, 17th January. Addressing NDC delegates prior to the taking of some major constitutional amendments, the ex-President also accused some members of the NDC of treachery. He, however, stopped short of naming them. I said it once and Im saying it again. We survived the malice of the NPP, their viciousness. Can we survive the treachery of some amongst us? Its a serious question we must deliberate and be asking ourselves. Otherwise, well be going downhill, Mr. Rawlings implored the delegates to critically assess the partys constitution and not just second any amendments, adding that if the need arises, the delegates should even suspend taking any decision on it. Otherwise, he said, the delegates will be mortgaging the future of the NDC. I can only hope that the decisions youre going to make will improve the personalities or bring in people of quality into the new leadershipAnd please, when it comes to some adjustments that you need make in the constitution, examine it properly because I know that a handful of some three people literally worked on that thingat the last minute, they brought in lawyers to rectify it. If you need to suspend that thing and re-examine it, you must do it. Dont just sit here and say, yeah yeah. Otherwise, youll be mortgaging the future of this party and by extension the future and stability of this country, he cautioned.
