Mufti Police Officers To Take Over KNUST Security Operations As School Reopens Friday

Relations Officer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kwame Yeboah has said security will be extremely tight on campus when students resume lectures next week.

He told NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ that the police and some military personnel will take over security operations until further notice.

“Yes, we will have some mufti dressed police officers and military men on campus. They will not be in their uniform to scare students. We want to senure peace on campus,” he told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman. 

After a destructive demonstration that led to a three-week closure of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) – the school is set to reopen on Friday, November 16, 2018.

In a statement signed by the Registrar of the KNUST, Mr A. K. Boateng, lectures would resume on Monday, November 19, 2018.

It said the decision to reopen after its closure on October 22, 2018 followed a special council meeting yesterday and in consultation with the Ashanti Regional Security Council.
