“Referee Frustrated Us” - Bashir Hayford

Bashir Hayford, head coach for the national female football team, the Black Queens, has said, his team was frustrated by referee Leticia Antonella Viana from Swaziland, who handled the second Group A game between Ghana and Mali at the ongoing African Women Cup (AWCON) 2018.

Coach Hayford, at a post-match conference said, the referee for the day did not live up to expectation and got his team frustrated with her decisions.

“I don’t normally talk about referees and officiating after games, but this referee frustrated my team.

“The girls did well today and played some good football, but got really frustrated from some of the decision from the referee, but we can’t take anything away from the Malians, they played well.”

The Black Queens of Ghana lost to Mali by 1:2 and would have to get a decent score line against Cameroon in the final group match, to live up to the host and win slogan.

Ghana beat Algeria 1:0 in the first group a match with Mali suffering a 2:1 defeat to Cameroon.
