Samini's Fans Call For Tour Re-staged

After staging four successful nationwide shows in the Ashanti, Western, Northern and Greater Accra regions as part of his 'Experience Ghana Tour', last year..., multiple award winner, Samini may as well have to decide between promoting his latest album and responding to calls by his numerous fans over the possibility of staging another nationwide tour in those areas where the train never made a stop. Notably, fans of the Dansoman based music icon in the Eastern, Volta, Brong Ahafo, Central and the Upper East and West regions, are calling for concerts in similar fashion to those organized last year to be staged. A management member who spoke to The Mail confirmed the request being made and said they were treating the matter with all the urgency it deserves. "The fans are to some extent responsible for what Samini is today. We have no option than to treat this with all the seriousness and importance that will contribute to making him Africa's biggest music icon", the management member said. Verus Nartey, one of the coordinators of the 'Experience Ghana Tour', was however not surprised by the calls they are getting. In an interview with The Mail, he said it goes to reaffirm why Samini is Africa's best performer and undisputed king of dance hall. "There is no doubt about how huge Samini is in Ghana and outside the shores of this country. Over the years, he has proved to be the best thing to have happened to dance hall music. So this is certainly no news. It is one of such numerous calls we get from all over the world. His popularity is undoubtedly enormous and this latest call has further enhanced his status". These latest calls are however coming at a time when the artiste is concentrating on promoting his new album which is currently getting rave reviews on urban and rural radio and attending to numerous invites from cross boarder artistes for collaborations, one of which he recently had with South African rapper & MTV award winner, HHP, who admitted his desire to work with Ghanaian artistes after meeting Samini in 2006 at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Before that Samini performed at the "Champions in Action" event, which was held in Jamaica on August 15 where he shared the same stage with top Jamaican artistes, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Murvado, Vybz Kartel, Sizzla, Capleton, Anthony B, Elephant Man, John Holt, Etana, Assassin, Spice and Javenchi. He was also in Canada where he performed at two shows, 'Afrofest and 'Carabana'.
