Apedwahene mobilize his people for development

The chiefs and people of Apedwa in the East Akyem Municipality have embarked on a number of development projects aimed at giving the town a facelift. The projects include the rehabilitation of the town�s roads, repairing and painting of structures at the durbar grounds, provision of a community library and an ICT centre. Barima Obenakwa Kwarifa 11, the Apedwahene, told the GNA that the rehabilitation of the roads would cost them GHC 200,000, adding that the residents contributing GH 10.00 each towards the financing of the projects. Barima Kwarifa said with the co-operation of the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) a Technical and Vocational Centre has been established in the town. He said plans were advanced to establish a Senior High School (SHS) in the town by September this year. Barima Kwarifa commended Apedwa citizens in Canada, USA and London for their financial support towards the projects and appealed to others resident in other parts of the world to assist. He said the town would organize a fund raising rally at Easter to mobilize more funds in aid of the projects and appealed to all non-resident citizens to come home during that time to help make the programme a success. Meanwhile the Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has elevated Barima Kwarifa to Osabarima due to his hard work and exemplary leadership qualities at a ceremony at Kyebi.
