Editorial: Earth Quake Scare

About a million of Ghanaians on Sunday kept vigil till the following morning because they had heard a rumour that an earth quake would occur. People slept in an open space to avoid being crushed down by tall buildings. Others, somewhere in Kumasi, the Capital of Ashanti Region also, went to stand at the Baba Yara Stadium for their so-called safety. Throughout Monday, stories of supposed earthquake were almost on the lips of everyone because that made the headlines. Meanwhile, the activists, supporters and sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were also proudly returning home with bliss, after a peaceful and successful National Delegates Congress in Tamale, the Northern Regional Capital. Unfortunately, the rumour of the earthquake has covered the success story from the NDCs Congress. What is even intriguing is that the source of the rumour still remains a mystery. Some people claimed that the rumour came from a radio station in Accra but, since it has turned out to be bad news nobody was ready to associate himself or her with it. Whoever might have set this cacophony agenda for the country somehow has succeeded because the focus of the public has been redirected to a false story raised. But one cannot be far from the truth that this could be a politically calculated plan by the opponents of the ruling party to thwart the public from hearing the beautiful story NDCs activists brought from Tamale. Did anybody ponder over the reason why the NPP, the so-called democrats, refused to honour the invitation extended to them by the NDC? Do they really fathom the message the NPP has sent them vis--vis this action? The Crystal Clear Lens believes that the NPPs refusal to attend the congress ought to be a wake-up call for the leadership of the NDC. Unlike the NDC, the NPP will not comprise on anything whenever they are in opposition. They see the ruling party as enemies they must fight tooth and nail to remove from power. The NPP can kill human beings for power and can also kill human beings for money. As far as we are concerned, the NPP will not give an inch to the government of the day to operate so the leadership of the NDC must be up and doing. The NPP is not prepared for friendship; therefore, they must not waste time on them.
