UCF calls for unity and teamwork towards 2012 and beyond

The Tema Sub-Regional branch of the United Cadre Front (UCF) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on members of the Party to forge ahead in unity towards the 2012 elections and beyond. Making the call in a statement issued in Tema and signed by the spokesperson, Nana Yaw Amaniampong, the UCF congratulated members of the NDC for contributing to a peaceful and successful congress in Tamale. The statement suggested to the National Executive Committee (NEC) that all contestants who lost should be co-opted into working committees to serve the Party. It suggested further that the 2008 Manifesto and Campaign pledges should serve as reference points for assessing governments performance at all times, bearing in mind that the Ghanaian voter is very discerning. The statement also stressed the need to strengthen the Partys information management machinery by developing an information-linked corridor between cadres and government/party through which situational reporting and intelligence gathering could be channelled. It suggested the setting up of an independent state agency to be responsible for investigating industrial, chemical and other forms of incidents in government establishments such as fire outbreaks. The statement was of the view that such independent state agency be empowered to make enforceable safety recommendations to facilities with government interest, regulatory agencies, industrial organizations and labour groups as existed in other jurisdictions of the world. We trust that both party and government will heed to our call as partners in developing our nation towards the Better Ghana Agenda, the statement said.
