The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) says they will challenge punishment imposed on their members over their alleged involvements in illegal admission of students and collection of money from students under the free SHS programme.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has asked two heads of Senior High Schools to ‘step aside’ to be investigated.

The Headmaster of the Nandom SHS in the Upper West Region, Bro. Joachim Naah has been relieved of his position for allegedly being involved in “illegal collection of fees and illegal admission of students under the free SHS programme”.

The other person, the Headmaster of Adisadel College in Cape Coast, Mr William Kusi-Yeboah, has been interdicted, “pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged acts of violations of procedures of the Ghana Education Service”.

But the President of NAGRAT, Angel Kabonu in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ noted that Ghana Education Service (GES) failed to involve them during the investigations before handing the heads their punishment.

“We will challenge the decision of GES especially on the decision taken on the ADISCO headmaster. He was never given the chance to defend himself," he said.

Angel Kabonu also expressed worry that the GES ‘leaked’ information to the media to depict the headmasters as “criminals”.

“Why this media funfair, why are they creating the impression that the man is a criminal?” he questioned
