BAG organises refresher course for PE teachers in Eastern region

The Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG), in collaboration with its Eastern Regional Executive body, have organised a refresher course for Physical Education (PE) teachers in the region.

The course, was aimed at training teachers on the basic and modern coaching guidelines for the sport and also
helped participants to appreciate, the proper way of developing badminton athletes.

A total number of 82 participants including PE teachers and PE coordinators across the Eastern region were involved in the refresher course.

Mr. Ahuma Ocansey,a teacher at OPASS and national Badminton umpire was the resource person who took the particaipants through the basics of the game such as; equipment for playing badminton, types of games played in badminton, court dimension, rules of the game and officiating.

The course, also formed part of the Badminton in Schools Programme, which would be held quarterly, for at least 50 Schools in each region of the country in 2019.

Mr. Yeboah Evans, President of BAG, said the development of the sport at the grassroots level, was key on the agenda for the Association and hence he would continue to expand the Shuttle Time Program, which trained over 200 PE teachers across the country last year.
