Quicken Investigations Into Murder Of Investigative Journalist - Govt

The Government on Thursday condemned the gruesome murder of undercover journalist Ahmed Husein and urged the Police to speed up investigations into the heinous act.

Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information, addressing a news briefing, in Accra, described the murder of the journalist as a barbaric act, noting that, any attack on journalists was an attack on press freedom.

The late Ahmed Husein, a Member of the Tiger Eye PI Team, was reportedly gunned down by unknown assailants on Wednesday, January 16, in Madina, a suburb of Accra, while driving home.

He was reported to have played a key role in the investigative piece of Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Number 12 on football corruption, last year.

“We urge the security agency to quicken their investigations and bring the perpetrators to book. Violence against Media Practitioners and Journalists must not be tolerated,” Mr Oppong Nkrumah said.

He expressed Government’s deep and heartfelt condolences to the Family of the victim, the Organisation he worked for and the media fraternity in general.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah urged anyone who has information about the perpetrators of the dastardly act to inform the Police in order to aid in their investigations so that justice is served.
