NDC condemns murder of Investigative Journalist

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the brutal murder of Investigative Journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, and extended its condolences to the family.

A statement signed by the NDC General Secretary, Mr Johnson Aseidu Nketia, and copied to Ghana News Agency, said: “This heinous crime has shaken the media fraternity in Ghana to the core and has the potential to reverse the gains we have made in the promotion of press freedom.”

“This incident also poses great danger for the already wobbly fight against corruption, and reduces Ghana’s standing in the comity of nations as a shining light of democracy and free speech”.

“The NDC wishes to commiserate with the family and loved ones of Ahmed and all his associates at Tiger Eye PI. We pray that Allah comforts you in this difficult times and grant his soul eternal rest.”

The NDC called on the security agencies to ensure the speedy apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators of the cowardly act.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale was murdered on Wednesday night by unknown assailants on his way home.

He was shot twice in the chest and one in the head. Police are still investigating the case.

Ahmed was a member of the Tiger Eye Private Investigations Team headed by Ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
