"Stop Playing My Old Songs" - Kontihene Issues Stern Warning To Radio Presenters

Hip-life artiste, Emmanuel Nana Appiah Boateng known in music circles as Kontihene has sent a strong warning to radio Presenters to desist from unnecessarily giving his old songs heavy rotation on radio at the expense of the new music he recently released.

This according to him, is due to how some presenters are sarcastically trying to link his classic hit song “Asesa” to the trending Menzgold and its CEO Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM1 scandal.

For the past few days, “Asesa” is played on almost every radio station whenever Menzgold and NAM1 issues come up for discussion, because Kontihene and NAM1 share the same name “Nana Appiah” which is also mentioned in the song. Coupled with this, is the fact that the lyrics somewhat coincides with the Menzgold and NAM1 saga.

“You are in this country, you don’t play my music, someone runs away with people’s monies and radio presenters are mischievously playing my song and linking it to NAM1. This is an 19-year-old song and you are now playing it as if it’s a new song when I have new songs. Why do you people want to attach my name to fraud? When he was sharing money around, you people didn’t remember that someone like me with extraordinary talent even existed. So now that everything has gone down, why are you people associating me with it?” Kontihene stated during an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM.

The “Aketesia” hit maker went on to warn radio presenters to stop playing “Asesa” and all his old songs, and even threatened legal actions against any presenter or radio station that refuses to heed to his warning.

“Stop playing my old songs and play the new ones. My lawyers will start writing to presenters and radio station managers if they continue playing my old tracks. I will sanction anybody who tries to link me with Menzgold and NAM1. Why? Do you want people to attack me?” he asked.

Kontihene has released a new song titled “Tricks”, which according to some entertainment pundits, is clearly about Menzgold and NAM1, and how the latter allegedly succeeded in defrauding numerous people to invest their money in his business enterprise.

But the hip-life artiste, has dismissed the suggestion insisting that “Tricks” is just a song for everyone about certain events that sometimes occurs in life.
