Former Director Of Gender Calls For Release Of Kidnapped Girls

The former Director of the Department of Gender, Mrs. Josephine Amoh, says announcing that the kidnapped girls are alive is not enough and that state apparatus must speed up the process to get them released.

She said, "it's been five months now. How are the girls who are all at their puberty stages coping in their menstrual periods, are they bathing, eating well? In fact, these children need to be released".

Mrs Amoh, who spoke with the Ghana News Agency over the recent kidnapping and other related unsuccessful kidnap attempt, said the state of panic that had engulfed the Metropolis needed to be averted.

Recently, unconfirmed reports indicated that two women were abducted near the Mount Zion area of Anaji, a suburb of Takoradi while the first was saved by a passing vehicle, the other was dumped by the road side traumatised.

Other incident of concern was the use of a taxi to rob unsuspecting passengers or even kidnap them.
