Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, Lydia Alhassan Hosts Constituency Grassroots

The MP elect for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Madam Lydia Alhassan, has expressed appreciation to her constituents for their massive support which resulted in her landslide victory in the by-election.

Reflecting on her victory, Madam Alhassan acknowledged the hard work of the numerous grassroots and the youth of the party in ensuring that there is continuity in the legacies of her late partner, Hon Kyeremanteng Agyarko, whose demise a few months ago left vacant the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat.

The post thanksgiving reception was however met with a dramatic surprise – A group of NDC members from the constituency beseeched the gathering to have an audience with Madam Alhassan.

It turned out to be a friendly political encounter after the group congratulated the newly elect MP.

Mr Edom Doe, the leader of the disenchanted NDC members, said the organizational skills and the message of development espoused by the NPP candidate was exceptional and resonated very well with the people – hence they believe she will continue with the good work her late partner was doing.

The group was however unhappy with how their party leaderships handled issues during the bye-election, they noted that the boycott was needless.

They also pledged to support their new MP to succeed and announced their defection to join the NPP.

The group believe that there is a leadership crisis at the top level of the NDC, resulting in the issuance of unguarded statements by some ill-informed party executives to the media.

They threatened to burn all party paraphernalia in their possession in the presence of Pius Enam Hadzie, a Deputy Minister of Information, who was accompanying the newly elected MP.

Mr Hadzie who was at the gathering adviced against such public humiliation of their former party - he welcomed the group for taking a bold political decision to join the NPP fraternity, and charged them to feel free to contact the Ayawaso NPP executives for any assistance they may need.
