I Don’t Subscribe To “Bloody Widow” Tag . . . Lydia Alhassan Doesn’t Have Control Over Security - Mornah

Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr. Bernard Mornah has pooh-poohed the Minority in Parliament over the “bloody widow” tag on Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

According to him, the Minority in Parliament may have their right to stage a walk out of Parliament during the swearing-in of the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, but stressed that the inscription on the placards, describing her as a “bloody widow” is inappropriate.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s 'Alhaji and Alhaji' flagship programme, Bernard Monah reiterated that “some of them showed placards with inscription that I don’t want to mention because I don’t think I support those things”.

“ . . because even as I think there was everything wrong with the by-election, I cannot hold the woman responsible because she does not have control over the security in this country and therefore the tagging that accompanied her was inappropriate,” he chided.

He insisted that the Minority in Parliament had the right to stage a walk out per their argument that Hon. Lydia Alhassan as at the time she came to Parliament was not yet a Member of Parliament as she was not sworn-in.

“That is their legal thing they are doing in their House,” Bernard Mornah insisted.
