Driver's mate in court for stealing Mercedes bus

Vincent Quaye, a 19-year-old driver's mate, was on Friday arraigned before the Asamankese Circuit Court charged with stealing a Mercedes Benz 207 bus valued at GH9,000. The prosecutor said on his return, the driver realized that both Quaye and the vehicle had disappeared. An eye-witness told the driver that he saw the vehicle moving towards Asamankese direction and with the help of another driver chased the vehicle but were unsuccessful. A report was lodged with the Police on October 30, last year. On November 25, in the cause of Police investigations, the vehicle was found abandoned in Cape Coast with some parts including tape recorder, speaker, battery, two jerks, a spare tyre, two driving mirrors and a set of tools stolen. The vehicle was also found to be not road worthy with some parts damaged. On January 23 this year, the driver spotted Quaye at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, caused his arrest and handed him over to the police.
