NPP Long Hands In GFA Elections

The move by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his NPP Government towards the coming elections clearly shows that the NPP intentionally manipulated the system and collapsed the GFA so that they can fill in their people at the various positions.

The NPP have soon forgotten that Kwasi Nyantekyi was allegedly accused of hijacking the GFA, making people to lose interest in the passion they have for football as it used to be in the past.

Majority of Ghanaians were of the view that because of the diabolic agenda of the NPP to hijack GFA and place their people there, instead of replacing the five vacancies out of the 22 members of the Executive Committee who were affected as a result of the Anas expose they rather chose to dissolve the entire GFA.

The implications in what the NPP is doing now are that, the moment the GFA is tagged with political colours that would be the end of Ghana’s football. It is a known fact that, Ghanaians have developed much interest in watching European football as compared to their own local football matches because of its fallen standard.

One of the plans being orchestrated now by the NPP government is that, they are about to pump in money to influence the GFA elections. They are going round the districts talking to their sympathizers to vie for the various positions at GFA, and are to do same in the regional level.

The NPP Government has also elected coordinators who are also supporters and member of the NPP with the intention of recruiting people who are NPP sympathizers into the FA. They have been tasked to see to the actualization of the invasion.

“I have been mandated to execute a plan for NPP sympathizers to be elected into the FA. I am in charge of the Western Region operation,” a District Chief Executive is reported to have said.

They have also planted among the membership people that set out information to the sports Ministry and the Residency.

A deep-throat source from the Jubilee House indicates that, some NPP sympathizers have been called to the Jubilee House and assigned to each region, with the responsibilities of ensuring that the elections go to their favour.

From a highly reliable source, one of such meetings was held at Takoradi and Tarkwa last week. It is being alleged that one of the contestants was heard telling people that he has been chosen by the government after he had had meetings with some NPP Gurus who visited the Jubilee House.

Again, it is being alleged that another person is also doing same, claiming partnership with the NPP government.

This unexpected but obvious government intent has made well-meaning people in the industry worried.

Some Club owners interviewed expressed their unhappiness on what is happening in the football industry, saying football is the only game that brings Ghanaians together.

Meanwhile, Article 13, paragraph 1 and Article 17, paragraph 1 of the FIFA statutes obliged member associations to manage their own affairs independently and with no influence from third parties. Nigeria can be sited as one of the countries that were banned by FIFA because of interference.

Ghanaians are telling President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government to stay away from GFA elections and allow them to conduct their elections independently without any political interference.
