Prez Akufo-Addo Gave "Empty Rhetorics"; "Full Of Deceptions" Nation Address

Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has rubbished President Nana Akufo-Addo's address to the nation on Thursday, February 21, 2019 in Parliament.

The President, delivering the 2019 State of the Nation Address (SONA) before the House, touched on various sectors of the economy from the financial, health, to mining sector and others.

During the President's speech, he called on both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to disband their vigilante groups to end violence in the country.

He also revealed that his government has acquired a 40 million dollar grant from the World Bank to improve the tourism sector.

President Akufo-Addo disclosed other projects and initiatives by his administration to enhance the progress of the nation.

Commenting on the 2019 SONA on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Sammy Gyamfi told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the President made "empty rhetorics" to Ghanaians.

According to him, the President refused to acknowledge the salient thing bothering Ghanaians which is the rate of Ghana's local currency to the dollar rate on the stock exchange market.

Sammy Gyamfi stated emphatically that President Akufo-Addo has lost touch with the realities facing Ghanaians.

He’s become known for delivering good speeches. He’s become known for sounding rhetorics…Frankly, Chairman General, when you look at his address; it’s full of empty rhetorics, full of deceptions and it shows that the President has lost touch with the realities of this country.

"...There was no statement, not even one line about the free fall of the Ghana cedi…We cannot say the President delivered the State of the Nation Address. I don’t think he delivered the State of the Nation Address,” he added.
