Political Campaigns In Churches To Be Banned Ahead of 2020 Elections – Pentecostal & Charismatic Council

The General Secretary of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev Emmanuel Barigah says political campaign in churches will be banned ahead of election 2020.

He explained that the approach is not “healthy” for the Christian kingdom, after threatening a total boycott of voting by its members.

“We will not allow them [political parties] to campaign in churches again, and we will also not vote for any party who engage vigilante groups. We will instruct all our members to boycott the election . . . ” he said.

Rev Emmanuel Barigah was discussing NDC’s National Chairman leaked tape on NEAT FM’s evening political program, ‘Torchlight’ with Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo has had his reputation as a servant of God come into question after a two-hour explosive audio recording emerged on Tuesday, in which he is heard calling on members of his party to attack political opponents, and carry out acts apparently to create the impression that Ghana is not safe.

Even though the NDC is seeking to suggest that the tape is a doctored one, the Pentecost and Charismatic Council appears strongly concerned about its reputation and is, therefore, demanding the tape to enable it to authenticate if it is true or not.

Premature To Judge Ofosu-Ampofo

According Rev Emmanuel Barigah, utterances on the tape must be condemned, but noted that the lad should not be judged.

“Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said the voice has been doctored so lets not judge him hastily. We have to investigate before we make any decision on the issue. Currently it is too premature to judge him. The council will order for the voice to investigate,” he said.
