Local Gov’t Head Receives CIAMC Honourary Membership

Head of Local Government Service, Dr Ing. Nana Ato Arthur, has been conferred an Honorary Membership by the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants-Ghana, (CIAMC).

The former Central Region Minister and Member of Parliament for KEEA received the honour at a colourful ceremony held in Accra on February 23, 2019.

 This honorary award was given in "recognition of Dr Arthur’s distinguished leadership and innovation in the area of Local Governance and Expert in Development Planning in both the public and private sectors across the country and beyond," said a statement released by CIAMC.

Dr Arthur was honoured together with other eminent personalities, including Mr Eson-Benjamin an outstanding Administrator, currently managing COMPACT2 Project in both academia and practice.

The Chairman of the occasion used the opportunity to appeal to other government appointees to emulate the footsteps of the former Central Regional Minister in transforming the Local Government service in Ghana.

Ing Dr Nana Ato Arthur who is currently the Vice President of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM), in the United Kingdon, said: “Ghanaians should expect more transformation in the Local Government Service this year which will act as a catalyst for the development of other sectors in government”.

CAPAM is committed to providing opportunities for learning and knowledge exchange to all members of the Association and creates several instruments for knowledge exchange in order to promote good governance from the Commonwealth and beyond.

The Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants Ghana has the mandate to promote excellence in the practice of professional administration and management consultancy by examining, chartering, and regulating its members.

 The Institute is a corporate body with perpetual succession capable of suing and being sued in its own name and of performing such acts as are necessary for and incidental to the achievement of its objects, the exercise of its powers and the performance of its functions and duties under this Constitution or under any statute of the Republic of Ghana.

According to Richmond Bosompem Ababio, Hon. Dr Ing. Nana Ato Arthur holds a PhD in Development Studies from University of Bonn, Germany and MSc. in Development Planning and Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
