Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo Must Be Arrested - NPP’s Mireku Duker

Member of Parliament [MP] for Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency, George Mireku Duker has called for the arrest of NDC Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo for comments made in his leaked tape.

“I can’t understand why Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo should be walking a free man after making those horrid statements to disgrace the government of the day and the country at large . . . Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo must be arrested for his comments made,” he angrily said on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ panel discussion segment.

To him, the security agencies must perform their duties accordingly to his comments made, and especially pay attention to the weight of the words used and the consequences it can have on the state and persons he mentioned.

“I charge the security agencies to act according to the contents of Ofosu-Ampofo’s leaked tape. Indeed he needs to be dealt with as an escape goat to put a stop to such statements from political leaders,” Mireku Duker insisted.

The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reported himself to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

He was accompanied by some executives of the party as well as Lawyer Tony Lithur and former Attorney General in the erstwhile Mahama administration, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo has been invited by the CID to answer questions in relation to a leaked audio recording alleged to be his voice and issues that have been raised in it.

The voice on the leaked tape among other things allegedly charged members to attack the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa and the Chairman of the Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante.
