LEAKED TAPE: NDC Doesn't Have Original Tape; We Didn't Record - Anim Piesie

NDC Communicator, Bernard Anim Piesie has come to the defence of the party's National Chairman over the infamous leaked tape.

The National Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo is currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for allegedly making seditious comments against the Electoral Commissioner, Jean Mensa and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo was heard on the leaked tape inciting members of the NDC to wage war against the EC Boss and also make life uncomfortable for members of the governing party.

The NDC Communications Officer and other executives of the party have denied claims that the audio recording is that of the National Chairman, stating emphatically that the tape has been doctored and is therefore fake.

Mr. Anim Piesie, in a discussion with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" on Monday, has also given new revelations to the issue.

Although admitting that a meeting was held between Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo and members of the NDC, Mr. Anim Piesie noted that when one makes a critical assessment of the leaked tape, he/she would hear background car horns and screeches which is indicative that the tape has been doctored because their meeting was held in the party office where no noise or vehicle sounds can be heard.

He however further stated emphatically that there was no point that any party member recorded the meeting and therefore the NDC has no original tape to prove that the audio has been doctored or otherwise.

“We didn’t record . . . This was an open meeting where we didn’t record anything. You won’t get an original tape,” he insisted.
