Ghanaians Told To Hold The Virtues Of Peace, Unity And Tolerance

Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the Out-going Western Regional Minister has called on Ghanaians to endeavour to give room for peace, tolerance and love for one another in advancing the course of Ghana's socio-economic development.

He noted, "we are in a time where love for one another has waxed cold, intolerance has crept into our society so much so that we don't see ourselves as one people".

The Western Regional Minister at the 62nd Regional Celebration of independence on the theme: " Celebrating Peace and Unity" said current events of vigilantism, hatred and unfairness in communities could be a recipe for disrupting the peace of the nation and must therefore with one accord stem the practice in the bud.

He said Ghana as a nation, was made of one people, one nation regardless of the individual background and political affiliation and that as citizens we would only thrive as people with a common destiny.

The attainment of Independence was achieved only through love for Nation, dedication, commitment and that such character and traits should, therefore, be emulated by all in the discharge of duties and responsibilities as citizens.

The Regional Minister mentioned that spreading and maintaining peace and security in the country began with the resolve of the individual adding, "let us sow peace and unity wherever we find ourselves in the world".

As Ghanaians, the Minister entreated that the individual exhibited tolerance and respect for each other's views and personality.

He said, President Akufo-Addo chose the theme to consolidate the achievement made in restoring peace and unity among the people of Dagbon adding, Ghana would continue to protect its enviable record of being one of the most peaceful countries in Africa.

Dr Afriyie speaking on the kidnapped girls urged residents to be careful and on the lookout and fish out those who were involved in the practice.
