Abronye DC To Contest Chairmanship Position In Bono RegionĀ

The First 1st Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Brong Ahafo Region, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC has hinted to resign from his current position to contest as the Regional Chairman of the newly created Bono Region.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Abronye DC stated that he accepts the new directive by the NEC wholeheartedly as he laces his boots for the Chairmanship position.

According to him his decision to contest the Chairmanship position is due to his love for the party, and upon sober reflection of election 2020 he can attest that it is not going to be easy so the party need a hard working Chairman that can go to the rank and file to retain NPP in power.

"I deeply love the party and will always strive for victory in any electoral contest . . . the work in election 2020 is huge and I promise to work hard and project the good works of President Akufo-Addo," he said.

He also stressed that he is ready to meet the NDC 'boot for boot' as stated by former President John Dramani Mahama, who is now candidate for the National Democratic Congress for the 2020 elections.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the party loyalists and said he was motivated by their support.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled May 4, 2019, to elect new regional executives for the newly created regions in the country.

“The NPP shall, pursuant to Article 18 of the Party’s Constitution and notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, hold an Extraordinary Regional Annual Delegates Conference on May 4, 2019, to elect officers to occupy vacant regional executive positions, occasioned by the recent regional reorganization,” a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, John Boadu noted.

John Boadu in the statement said this was decided on during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at their headquarters; the decision was endorsed by the National Council of the party last Tuesday.

“The meeting had in attendance, H.E. President Akufo-Addo, H.E. Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, the party’s National Chairman and other NEC members,” the statement added.

The NPP earlier directed its current regional executives to oversee the six newly created regions until substantive executives are elected to fill those positions.

Six new regions have been created. They include North East, Ahafo, Bono East, Western North, Oti and Savannah; hence, the NPP has set May 4, 2019 to elect new regional executives for these regions to steer the affairs of the party.
