The Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Franklin Fiavi Fifi Kwetey, has declared his unalloyed aspiration to become a Member of Parliament of Ghana. Goaded on by the pettiness shown on the floor of Parliament by the New Patriotic Party (NP) Minority anytime he makes an appearance in the lawmaking house to perform an important constitutional duty pertaining to this ministry, the Deputy Minister has decided to carry the flight to his detractors on a whole new level by becoming a member of Parliament himself. Hon. Fifi Kwety has told the New Catalyst newspaper in an interview that he will contest the parliamentary primaries for Ketu South Constituency when nominations open and was hopeful that the delegates will elect him as their parliamentary candidate for him to have his burning aspiration fulfilled. A stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to be elected a parliamentary candidate of the Ketu South Constituency is as good as being elected a Member of Parliament for the constituency. Hon. Fifi Kwetey first hinted about his parliamentary aspiration on the day he gained Parliamentary approval as deputy minister of finance after boring debate on the floor of parliament. The debate was necessitated because the NPP Minority had conspired to block his appointment after he went through a rocky vetting unscathed, which resulted in lack of consensus on him from both sides of the political divide on the Appointment Committee of Parliament. As a constitutional requirement, Hon. Fifi Kwetey�s appointment was debated on the floor of Parliament where the Osei-Keyi Mensah-Bonsu led NPP minority put up a most reprehensibly hostile posture towards the NDC strongman, who eventually sailed through the storm by a majority vote.
