Farmer Shot Dead By Spiritualist Friend At Assin-Breku

A 30-year-old spiritualist, Mawuli Ayitey, has been remanded into prison custody by the Assin Fosu District Court for allegedly luring his friend, Kwasi Bukari to the bush to murder him.

The spiritualist whose plea was not taken will reappear in the Court presided over by Mr. Djanie Quartey on Thursday, March 28 this year.

Prosecuting, Inspector Gilbert Anyongo, said that the accused lured the deceased into a nearby bush at Assin Bereku, in the Assin North District of the Central region on Sunday, March 17 and shot him without any provocation.

He said while the accused was in the process of hurriedly burying the body, he was seen by a complainant (name withheld) who reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Mawuli.

In another development, a 19-year-old final year Business Student of Assin Manso Senior High School (SHS), Ebenezer Owusu Ansah, last Saturday, March 23 got drowned in the Okye River near the community in an attempt to swim.

The student who hails from Kasoa, was said to have gone out with his friends to the river side where the sad incident occurred.

Mr. Derick Owusu Ambrose, Assin South District Chief Executive (DCE) confirmed the tragedy to Ghana News Agency.

He said the body has since been deposited at the Abura Dunkwa government hospital morgue to allow further investigation by the police.

The Police however declined to speak to the media on the matter with the explanation that, investigations were ongoing.
