The Acting Chairman of Bono Region of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC says the former Ambassador for the Ghana Aids Commission, Joyce Dzidzo Mensah is in bed with the former President Mahama. 

He alleged that former President John Dramani Mahama has therefore rented an apartment for her in Germany.

According to him, John Dramani Mahama in 2013 aided Joyce Dzidzor Mensah to be appointed as AIDS ambassador for the Ghana AIDS Commission but subsequently, it was found by the AIDs commission that, Joyce Dzidzor Mensah did not even fall within the necessary requirements hence defrauded the commission. 

Speaking on Net 2 TV, he reiterated that after several years, he decided to petition the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the matter to bring Joyce Dzidzor to book if found guilty. 

“Do you know that JDM has rented a house for the lady in Germany…immediately after my petition, John Mahama knowing that this lady (Joyce Dzidzor) will not go down alone, rented an apartment for her in Germany so as to avoid her arrest.

He asserted that "John Mahama did that because, if Joyce Dzidzor is arrested, her wife Lordina Mahama would be in trouble and exposed because she is a direct accomplice Joyce Dzidzor.”

Abronye DC however claimed to have all the necessary document to prove his case; adding that she [Joyce] is not coming to Ghana again unless an Interpol is sent to go and have her arrested.

Abronye DC has petitioned the Director General of the Criminal Investigative Department of the Ghana Police Service to “arrest, interrogate and prosecute” former HIV/AIDS Ambassador Joyce Dzidzor Mensah Yawavi for “fraud.”

According to Abronye DC, Ms Yawavi has violated section 248 and section 251 of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29) respectively by making a false declaration about her HIV status and deceiving public officers.

Ms Yawavi was in 2011 made an HIV ambassador by the Ghana Aids Commission to embark on a campaign to reduce stigma and discrimination suffered by persons living with HIV in order to provide a human face to HIV.

In December 2014, Ms Yawavi publicly announced that she lied about her HIV/AIDS status for years and had never tested positive for the disease before working with the Ghana AIDS commission as an HIV/AIDS ambassador.

In 2016, however, she made a U-turn to say she, indeed, tested positive for the virus but only lied about her status to protect her children from stigmatization.

Ms Yawavi again later disclosed that she has conducted a new test for HIV/AIDS, and the result proved negative.

Abronye DC in his petition said: “The actions of Joyce can be said to have amounted to fraud provided for under section 16 of the criminal code”.

“As an established fact devoid of ambiguity, Joyce Mensah is not an HIV patient but has through illegitimate means acquired and enjoyed privileges meant for persons suffering from the virus,” he added.

He has since called for the arrest of Joyce Dzidzor and subsequent prosecution.
