I've Not Received Money From Veep - Baby Ansaba

Beleaguered Editor of the Punch Newspaper Ebenezer Ato Sam, popularly known as Baby Ansaba, has denied media reports that his confessions were induced by the Vice President, John Mahama. The office of the Vice President John Dramani Mahama has also refuted reports that the vice President gave money to baby Ansaba to compensate the family of a man he(Baby Ansaba) had run over and killed with his car some time last year. According to the reports the move was made so he would confess to writing stories about President Mills to unpopularize his candidature in the run-up to the December 2008 elections. Baby Ansaba had earlier on confessed to writing cooked up stories about the then candidate Mills. However, on Friday February 5, the case took a new turn with accusations that Baby Ansabas confessions were occasioned by some form of help he received from the Vice President John Mahama. The spokesperson for the Vice President John Jinapor told Citi News the allegations are fabricated. He said the Vice President has done no such thing. "This is very unfortunate, there is no iota of truth in this story, it is a concocted story". He said. He noted If baby Ansaba has gone ahead to make his confessions, let them deal with him. According to John Jinapor, "the office of the Vice President has absolutely nothing to do with Baby Ansaba in connection with all this and the Vice President has not given any money to baby Ansaba to even settle a family not to talk of extending it to blackmail a certain political regime". John Jinapor said. Mr. Jinapor added that the office of President believes in the freedom of the press and believes that journalists should be given space to operate but abhors and condemns the attitude of journalists peddling falsehood and concocting stories just to tarnish the hard earned reputation of people like the Vice President. Meanwhile, the man in the middle of the rumpus Baby Ansaba whose confession has attracted strong criticism from the public and the opposition NPP in particular told Citi News that the Vice President has not given him any money. "The Vice President has not helped me with any money in recent times for any purpose, I only meet him at functions and I recently met him at Kyebi, during Gabby Otchere Darkos mothers funeral and that is about two months ago" Baby Ansaba said. According to Baby Ansaba the manner in which the media is about to resurrect that case presents a picture that somebody is after my life because this do not constitute any news by now...weve done the funeral and the police are conducting investigation to present the case to the court.
